Diet 

Fruits, seeds, leaves, roots, and tubers, insects and lizards.

Appearance

The male Red Junglefowl are brightly coloured with orange, red, gold, and metallic green feathers, while the smaller females are duller, with brown and tan plumage for camouflage. Both sexes have a large red comb, wattles, and the characteristic greyish feet of the species.

Distribution 

Red Jungle Fowl are found primarily in central and upper southern Thailand, but also present in the north and west. They prefer bamboo forests, often near clearings, water sources, and ravines.

Useful Information

A very common bird, seen around accommodation, along the edge of forests, in clearings and on the side of the road.

Red junglefowl breed from December to May. The female builds a nest on the ground, often hidden in thick undergrowth.
