Diet 

Omnivore.

Fruits, seeds, grains, insects, reptiles, and small mammals.

Appearance

Green peafowl differ significantly between sexes. Males have iridescent green and bronze plumage with black-and-blue wings and a long train of covert feathers adorned with eyespots, while the females are similar but with duller, less iridescent plumage and shorter tail coverts. Both sexes have a crest.

Distribution 

Green peafowl are found in two primary locations, western and northern Thailand in forested areas.

Useful Information

Green peafowl are forest birds that spend their days foraging on the ground in small groups and roost in trees at night.

Breeding is from March to May. Females build ground nests in high grass or near plants.
