Appearance
The Blue Pitta is a brightly coloured, stocky bird, with long legs, and a short tail, measuring around 22-24 cm in length. The male is most known for its vibrant blue upper parts, a flame-orange hindcrown, and a pale gray-blue breast with black spotting. The female is duller, with olive-brown upper parts and a hint of blue on the tail and mantle, and her breast is pale gray with black spots.
Distribution
The Blue Pitta is found in the north, west, northeast and east of Thailand. Primarily in moist evergreen and tropical forests.
