Carnivore.

Mammals, especially arboreal species like squirrels, and birds, particularly eggs and nestlings.

Appearance

The Black Eagle is a large, eagle with all-black plumage, a yellow bill base, and yellow feet. It has long wings that are pinched in at the tips, a tail with faint barring, and a shape that is distinctive in flight.

Distribution 

Black Eagles are found in forested, hilly, and mountainous regions of Thailand.

Useful Information
Black eagles are known for their aerial hunting with slow, low flight to spot prey, and acrobatic courtship displays like chases and dives.
 
Breeding is from January to April.They build a platform nest on a tall tree normally overlooking a steep valley.

Diet 

Carnivore.

Primarily feeds on snakes, also other reptiles, small mammals, birds, amphibians, and large insects.

Appearance

The Crested Serpent-Eagle is a stocky, medium-sized raptor with dark brown upper parts and paler, white-spotted underparts. It has a prominent, fan-shaped crest on its head, which appears almost black with white flecks when raised. It has a large head, broad wings, a short tail with conspicuous black and white bars, and yellow eyes, legs, and facial skin.

Distribution

Crested Serpent-Eagles are found throughout Thailand, particularly in areas with thick vegetation like forests, hills, and plains.

Useful Information

Crested Serpent-Eagles are solitary hunters, perching motionless on a high branch to scan for prey like snakes, small mammals, and birds.

Breeding is from December to May.  They build a large platform nest out of sticks, which is lined with green leaves. Nests are typically placed high in trees, often near forest edges, streams, or open areas.
