Location
Phu Khieo Wildlife Sanctuary is located in North Eastern Thailand, in Chaiyaphum Province.

It is approximately 508 km from Bangkok. 

History

The sanctuary was established in 1972. 

Ecosystem

Phu Khieo features a diverse ecosystem of hill evergreen, dry evergreen, and deciduous dipterocarp forests, along with grasslands (Thung Kamang).

It is home to 111 mammal species, 419 bird species and 110 known reptile species.

Notable species include: Asian Elephants, Indochinese Tiger, Indochinese Leopards, Clouded Leopards, Marbled Cats, Asian Golden Cats, Jungle Cats and Indochinese GreyLangur.

Phu Khieo Wildlife Sanctuary covers an area of  1,560 km².

Getting There
Pang Sida is fairly remote and not easily accessed using public transport, so it is best to visit by car. In the rainy season a 4wd would be beneficial. The journey from Bangkok takes approximately 4hrs.

In the Park

The park has a campsite with basic amenities. 

There are a number of  houses available to rent, prebooking through the department of National Parks website at portal.dnp.go.th  is neccessary.
