Diet
Omnivorous.
Roots, tubers, seeds, nuts, insects, eggs, and small mammals. They will also scavenge human waste.
Appearance
Body is covered in a coarse, bristly coat ranging from dark brown to almost black.
Habitat
Forests, wetlands, grasslands.
Distribution.
Found throughout Thailand in protected areas.
Although sightings of these cats have been reported, they are rarely seen due to their habitat and behaviour. Nearly all sightings today are with camera traps.
Primarily nocturnal, they are occasionally seen during the day, particularly in the early morning and early evening.
Male Wild Boar are typically solitary, and more often seen than females and young. Males are sometimes seen travelling across open grasslands. They will also visit mineral licks, where they have been observed rolling in elephant faeces.
Sounders (terminology for a group of pigs) are sometimes seen in open grassland in the early morning, still feeding.
Areas where Wild Boar are occasionally seen:
Nong Pak Chi grasslands is probably the best place to see Wild Boar.
Occasionally seen, in the area behind the restaurant, at Phanoen Thung Campsite, in the evening.
They are are also present between Ban Kran campsite and Bang Krang weir.
Any open area. particularly behind the museum and at the watch tower
If Wild Boar feel threatened, they will typically run away, if they have young then they may attack.
