Location

Thap Lan National Park is located in northeast Thailand, inthe Sankamphaeng Range, in Prachinburi, Nakhon Ratchasima Provinces 

It is approximately 197 km from Bangkok.

History

The park was established in 1981 and became 40th national park in Thailand. It is part of the  Dong Phayayen–Khao Yai Forest Complex UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Ecosystem

Thap Lan is a mix of dry evergreen forests, tropical rainforests, and deciduous dipterocarp forests.

It is home to 76 mammal species, 149 bird species and 48 known reptile species.

Notable species include: Indochinese tiger, Clouded Leopards, Asian Elephants and Banteng.

Size

Thap Lan National Park is the second largest national park in Thailand, covering an area of  2,236 km².

Getting There
Pang Sida is fairly remote and not easily accessed using public transport, so it is best to visit by car. In the rainy season a 4wd would be beneficial. The journey from Bangkok takes approximately 4hrs.

The park has a campsite with basic amenities. 

There are a number of  houses available to rent, prebooking through the department of National Parks website at portal.dnp.go.th  is neccessary.
