Location

Khao Paeng Ma Non-Hunting Area is located in North Eastern Thailand, in Nakhon Ratchasima Province. (part of the Dong Phaya Yen Forest complex).

Being part of the a Dong Phayayen–Khao Yai Forest Complex it is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

It is approximately 240 km from Bangkok. 

History

The sanctuary was established in 1994. 

Ecosystem

Khao Paeng Ma features high-elevation grasslands and restored forest,

It is home to 11 mammal species.

Notable species include: Gaur. Khao Paeng Ma Non-Hunting Area is widely recognised as one of the best locations to see Gaur.

Khao Paeng Ma Non-Hunting Area covers an area of  8.2 km².

Getting There
Pang Sida is fairly remote and not easily accessed using public transport, so it is best to visit by car. In the rainy season a 4wd would be beneficial. The journey from Bangkok takes approximately 4hrs.

In the Park

The park has a campsite with basic amenities. 

There are a number of  houses available to rent, prebooking through the department of National Parks website at portal.dnp.go.th  is neccessary.
