Length:  1.2 - 2.5 m

Diet 

Carnivorous.

Rodents, birds, eggs, and occasionally lizards or frogs.

Appearance 

Large, slender, and fast-moving snake, with colors ranging from yellow-brown, olive, to black. They are distinguished by a pointed snout, large eyes, a black, net-like pattern on the posterior body, and, when threatened, they inflate their neck to mimic a cobra

Toxicology

Non-venomous.

Habitat

Open woodlands, agricultural areas, rice paddies, wetlands, and suburban gardens.

Distribution. 

Found throughout Thailand.

 

Although sightings of these cats have been reported, they are rarely seen due to their habitat and behaviour. Nearly all sightings today are with camera traps.

Useful Information
Common rat snakes are large, non-venomous, diurnal, and semi-arboreal. If threatened, they may raise their forebody, inflate their throat, emit a growl-like hiss, and strike vigorously.
