Serow are found in protected mountainous forested areas. They prefer steep sided mountain terrain and are naturally diurnal.
Most areas that are inhabited by Serow are inaccessible, however they are regularly seen at, or in the vicinity of the Pha Diao Dai Cliff Viewpoint. Early morning being the best time to see them, before they are disturbed by tourists visiting the view point.
The Serow encountered at Pha Diao Dai are accustomed to humans, they will sometimes be within two or three meters of the walkway. Do not leave the walkway to get closer, if you get too close, the Serow will bolt, risking injury to its self or anyone who may be in its path.
Keep your distance, do not in any way attempt to block or restrict access to a Serow that is in your immediate vicinity. Always give the Serow plenty of space to escape.
Because it is possible to get very close to these animals, it is not in anyway an invitation to feed them. There is nothing that you have that is healthy for them.
Ignoring advice can be dangerous to you or others near to you.
