Location

Tat Ton National Park is located in the Laen Kha mountain range, in Chaiyaphum Province.

It is approximately 355 km from Bangkok and 23 km from Chaiyaphum City.

History

The park was established in 1980 and became 23rd national park in Thailand. 

Ecosystem

Tat Ton is a mix of deciduous dipterocarp and dry evergreen forests. 

Numbers of mammal species, bird species and reptile species is not avialable.

Mammal species include:

Wild Boar, Indian Muntjac, Common Palm Civet, Javan Mongoose, Lesser Bamboo Rat and Burmese Hare.

Bird species include:

Grey-headed Canary Flycatcher, Red-throated Flycatcher, Hainan Blue Flycatcher, Black-crested Bulbul, Black Drongo, Barn Swallow, Lineated Barbet, Greater Coucal, Indian Roller, Greater Flameback, Thick-billed Green-Pigeon, Black-shouldered Kite, Red Junglefowl, Chinese Francolin, Oriental Magpie Robin, Asian Barred Owlet, or Short-eared Owl.

Reptile species include:

Bengal Monitor, Cobra, Blue Krait, Reticulated Python, Malayan pit viper, Orange-winged flying lizard, Skink, Spotted Forest Skink, spiny-tailed house gecko.

Size

Tat Ton covers an area of  217 km².

Getting There
Pang Sida is fairly remote and not easily accessed using public transport, so it is best to visit by car. In the rainy season a 4wd would be beneficial. The journey from Bangkok takes approximately 4hrs.

The park has a campsite with basic amenities. 

There are a number of  houses available to rent, prebooking through the department of National Parks website at portal.dnp.go.th  is neccessary.
