South Africa is home to nineteen national parks and home to one of the most famous in the world, Kruger National Park.
I have been fortunate to have visited two parks during my recent visits, to this amazing country. One day in Pilanesberg and one week in Kruger.
Pilanesberg National Park, established in 1979 and officially proclaimed in 1984 in South Africa’s North West Province, was created through "Operation Genesis," the largest game translocation project of its time. It transformed former farmland and traditional tribal lands within an extinct volcanic crater into a 572 km² Big Five wildlife reserve.
